Can associate member contest an election for managing Committee post ?


Yes, an associate member can contest an election for a managing committee post in a housing society under the Maharashtra Co-operative Societies Act, 1960, as amended in 2019. However, this is subject to the following conditions:

  • Prior Written Consent: The associate member must have the prior written consent of the original member to contest the election. This is specified in Section 154B-10(6) of the Act.

  • Rights and Duties: The associate member exercises the rights and duties of the original member with their written consent, as per the definition of an associate member in Section 154B-1(18)(a).
